Halo 4 pretty much got rid of everything that made Halo multiplayer Halo. Equal starts discarded for custom loadouts, perks and unlockables. Map control discarded for ordinance killstreak rewards. Bullet magnetism was also cranked way the hell up, I'm assuming to make the game as casual as possible. This magnetism problem still plagues Halo 5 to an extent but reduced auto-aim kinda compensates for it.
Forgetting the game's absurd magnetism, the only thing Halo 4 did right is TTK. That's the one thing that prevented it from feeling like a completely generic paint-by-the-numbers FPS.
Halo 5 got equal starts and map control right, but holy moly the low TTK in Halo 5 is insane. I'm aware that its to complement the fast pace of the game but it feels like a twitch shooter, which is a terrible direction for Halo.
